For many years, we have served our community by providing healing and meaningful funeral and memorial services that honor life and meet the needs of those who grieve. Our hope is that from the moment you walk through our doors, you feel welcomed, respected, and heard.
History
In 1860, Carpenter and Arnold Furniture and Undertaking began offering quality funeral services to its clients. Today, Gotschall-Hutchison continues to strive to provide the same high-quality service that the people of Minerva and the surrounding areas have come to expect.
The funeral home has undergone many changes and had several owners over the years. In 1897, Carpenter and Arnold sold the firm to J. M. Stewart. In 1919, Austin Freed (Harold Freed’s father) and Jacob Schmachtenberger later took over the business. In 1937, Robert Dillon bought the business from Earl King. Finally, in 1950, Wallace Hutchison and D. Dwight Gotschall took over the operation of the business. In 1984 and 1985, the firm added two new funeral directors, David Gotschall (son of D. Dwight Gotschall) and Russell Hawk.
In 2000, David Gotschall took over the family-run business. He and his team offer the same dignified and reserved services that the people of this community deserve.
