Obituary

Wyatt Kilgallin

Age 73, of Minerva, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2026 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 12, 1953 in Fredericktown, OH to Norman and Marcella (Kennedy) Kilgallin.

After graduating Fredericktown High School, he received an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in 1974 and a B.S in Physics and Mathematics in 1977, both from Morehead State University. His studies culminated in a Master’s Degree in Engineering Science and Mechanics from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1983. His early work experience included time in analytics at Oak Ridge National Laboratory; engineering roles at Westinghouse, Xerox, and GTE Sylvania; and teaching positions at State Technical Institute of Knoxville. He then taught Electronic Engineering Technology at the University of Akron for more than 25 years, where he held the title of Associate Professor Emeritus since his retirement in 2013.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Spears) Kilgallin, whom he married August 23, 1986; son, Jonathan Daniel (Jul) Kilgallin of Akron; sister, Deanna (Jack) Fraizer of Waterford, OH; and brother, Michael (Debbie) Kilgallin of Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 12 noon in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery. Calling hours will be 2 hours prior to services from 10 am to 12 noon at the funeral home. Those wishing to send condolences may sign the online register at www.gotschallfuneralhome.com.
