William J. Shoemaker
Age 79 of Paris, died Sat. Dec. 28, 2013 in Mercy Medical Center. He was born Sept. 14, 1934 in Johnstown, PA to John and Dorothy (Hildebrand) Shoemaker. He retired from the Timken Company where he had worked for 39 years. He graduated from Franklin High School, PA in 1953 and Stark State. He was a US Army Veteran, attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and was a former member of the Paris Twp. Crime Watch. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Roberts) Shoemaker who died Jan. 21, 2013, 2 brothers; Fred and Ira "Bo" Shoemaker and a grandson, Ben Burr. He is survived by a daughter, Tamera (Richard) Sale of Minerva, son, John (Keniazh) Shoemaker of NC, 2 sisters-in-law; Mary Shoemaker of Greenville, PA and Elaine Shoemaker of Arizona, 5 grandchildren; Jesse and Emily Beaber, Richie, Laura and Amanda Sale.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Pastor Dave Cannon officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Liberty Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday 6-8 pm and one hour prior to services on Saturday.
