William J. Severn
Age 92, of Minerva, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 in Minerva Eldercare. He was born June 24, 1921 in Coshocton to William and Agnes (Stewart) Severn. He retired from the Minerva Wax Paper where he was an electrician for over 30 years. He is a US Army Air Corp. Veteran of WWII, past commander of Minerva VFW Post #4120, former member of the Minerva American Legion Post #357, member of the Minerva First Christian Church, Tubal Lodge #551 F&AM, 32nd degree, Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton and a longtime member of the Minerva Volunteer Fire Department where he was a lieutenant.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mabel (Rue) Severn who died in 2007, sister, Irene Richardson, 2 brothers, Forest "Jr." and Kenneth Severn. He is survived by 2 daughters, Sherry (Bill) Laubacher of Minerva and Cathy (Bill) Ostarchvic of Salem, sister, Edith (Dick) Murphy of Minerva, brothers, Harold "Nick" Severn of Canton, 3 sisters-in-law, Donna Mason of Minerva, Florence Rue of Minerva and Peg Jacoby of Minerva, 5 grandchildren, Lance Laubacher, Lisa (Brian) Caudill, Brian (Jan) Ostarchvic, Jamie (Carla) Ostarchvic and Mark (Amy) Ostarchvic, 9 great grandchildren, Alyssa and Lauren Laubacher, Amanda, Jamie and Matthew Caudill, Harper, Miles, Marin and Avery Ostarchvic and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday Oct. 12th at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Chaplain Larry Karlen officiating. Burial with full military services will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be 2 hours prior to services from 9am to 11am. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice or do something kind for a family member. The family would like to thank the staff of Minerva Eldercare and the Alliance Visiting Nurse and Hospice for their wonderful care.
