William J. Kennedy, age 78, of Minerva, died Tuesday, Sept., 16, 2014. He was born Dec. 13, 1935 in Philpot, KY to William and Mary Blanche (Payne) Kennedy. He retired from PCC in Minerva where he had worked for 45 years. He is a veteran and member of the Malvern American Legion Post #375, Minerva VFW Post #4120, Minerva Eagles Aerie #2199 and the Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne (Crabtree) Kennedy whom he married July 24, 1971; children, Sharon (James) Tangler of Kensington, Daryl Kennedy of Minerva; stepchildren, Susan (Ernie) Schmachtenberger of Minerva and Jeffrey Mantho of Los Angeles; 2 sisters, Eleanor (Robert) Knapp of Painesville and Jeannine Wheeler of FL; brother, Tom (JoAnne) Kennedy of Cuyahoga Falls; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-great grandsons. He is preceded in death by 6 sisters, Doris, Marge, Dorothy, Mabel, Faye and Helene; and a brother, Paul.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 7th at 1:00 pm in Liberty Cemetery with Father Victor Cinson officiating. Those wishing to send condolences may sign the online register at www.gotschallfuneralhome.com.
