Ward Sheckler, Age 85, of Minerva, died Thursday, June 16, 2016 at his home. He was born Dec. 26, 1930 in Augusta to Ralph and Jesse (Ward) Sheckler. He retired from PCC in Minerva after 30 years of service. He graduated from Augusta High School in 1948 and is a US Army Veteran of the Korean War, member of the Minerva First Christian Church and the Augusta Lodge #504 F&AM.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor (Walker) Sheckler who died in 2012 and a sister, Helen Pitts. He is survived by 2 sons, Steven (Myra) Sheckler of Minerva, William (Sheryl) Sheckler of Waynesburg, sister, Evelyn Baker of Augusta, 5 grandchildren; Matthew, Michael (Brittany), David (Patricia), Nicole (fiancé, Lucas Shipper) and Nancy Sheckler, 2 great grandsons, Blake and Austin.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2:00 pm in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Chaplain Larry Karlen officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday 6-8 pm and one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice.
