Wanda Garee
Age 91, of Minerva died June 14, 2018 in Minerva Eldercare. She was born December 17, 1926 in Bayard to Walter and Lydia (Tarbet) Benedict. She the owner of Garee-Scotts for 38 years in Minerva. She was a member of Minerva First Presbyterian Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for 35 years. She was a member of San Sousi Club, Minerva Historical Society, former secretary of the Minerva Chamber of Commerce, member of the Minerva Merchants Association and Railroad Depot Restoration Committee.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Mac Garee who died in 1990; 3 sisters, Nancy Doak, Wilma McCammon, Bonnie Warner and a brother, John Benedict. She is survived by a daughter, Holly McCully of Minerva; 2 grandchildren, Lorey (Eric) Dreher of Minerva, Garee (Julie) McCully of Louisville; 5 great grandchildren, Logan and Lance Dreher, Taylor, Paityn and Grayson McCully.
Funeral services will be Monday at 4:00 p.m. in the Minerva First Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Lane officiating. Calling hours will be held from 2-4 p.m. prior to the services. Following services there will be a Celebration of her Life in the church social hall at 5:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the church or Crossroads Hospice.
