Sylvia "Cis" Norton, age 62, of Minerva, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2013 in Aultman Hospital. She was born Feb. 5, 1951 in Salem to the late Albert and Sylvia (Smith) Arkenburgh. She was a housewife and member of the New Vine Baptist Church in Malvern.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Everett Norton whom she married in 1978; 3 daughters, Lisa Gallagher of Canton, Tracy (Chris Bell) Arkenburgh of Paris and Audrey (Barry) Elkins-Huhn of Midvale; 2 sons, Michael of Canton and Jason of Waynesburg; 3 sisters, Barbara (Bill) Mingus of Malvern, Nancy (Charles) Elkins of Waynesburg and Alberta (Floyd) Passmore of Minerva; 3 brothers, David Arkenburgh of Alliance, Raymond (Annie) Arkenburgh of Carrollton and Melvin (Jeannie) Arkenburgh of Pattersonville; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by a son, Harley Norton; sister, Martha Daviduk; and 2 brothers, Eugene and Albert Arkenburgh, Jr.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Steve Gilreath officiating. Burial will be in Scroggsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be 2 hours prior to services on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
