Shirley M. Schmidt,age 84, of Minerva, died Sunday July 14, 2013 in the Alliance Community Hospital. She was born Aug. 4, 1928 in New Castle, PA to Harry and Freda (Hager) Simmons. She retired from the Pleasant View Golf Course and had also worked for the Liberty Bell in Minerva, Denny's Market in Minerva, and Edgewater Golf Course where she was inducted into the Bob Simm's Memorial Hall of Fame for her loyalty and dedication. She also attended the Minerva First Christian Church.

She is survived by her husband, Carl Schmidt, Jr. whom she married Oct. 7, 1949; 2 daughters, Debra (Jeff) Vasilliu of Minerva, Pam (Charles) Stoller of Minerva, a sister, Dorothy Butler of Guilford Lake, 4 grandchildren, Darci Vasilliu of Minerva, Christopher Stoller of Killeen, TX, Aaron (Becky) Stoller of Minerva, Jess Vasilliu of Massillon; 6 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by a sister, Harriet Ramser and a brother, Bill Burleson.

Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m., Wednesday in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Ben George officiating. Following cremation, burial will be in Liberty Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m.
