With profound sadness, we announce Shelly D. Gibson, 47, of Carrollton, went home to her true love Dustin Nennig on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. Shelly was born on May 12, 1979, in Alliance, Ohio, to Gary Gibson of Jeffersonville, Kentucky, and the late Mildred (McNeal) Bruckelmyer. She was a proud 1997 graduate of Marlington High School and worked at Imperial Aluminum in Minerva. Shelly lived life with a contagious laugh, a quick wit, and a heart that loved deeply. She had a gift for making people smile, turning ordinary moments into unforgettable memories, and reminding those around her not to take life too seriously. Her humor, and kindness left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her. Her greatest pride was being loved by the late Dustin and she was never the same after his passing. She loved her children and fought all she could.

Shelly is survived by her daughter, Brooklyn Gibson of Carrollton; her son, Parker Nennig of Carrollton; her stepson, Colin Nennig; her father, Gary Gibson of Jeffersonville, Kentucky; her sisters, Rebecca (David) Gibson-McKenney and Mindy Gibson, both of Jeffersonville, Kentucky; her niece, Lily Gibson; her nephews, Adam Knight and David Gibson, both of Jeffersonville, Kentucky; and friends. She was welcomed home by the love of her life, Dustin Nennig; her beloved mother, Mildred (McNeal) Bruckelmyer; and her cherished grandparents, Edward and Lela Gibson.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in hearing the memories of her laughter, her bright smile, knowing she has her true love beside her and she is no longer in pain by a broken heart. Her daughter was blessed to have a laugh like her mother's and her daughter and son will carry with pride of looking like their mother.

A Celebration of Shelly's Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home.
