Samuel W. Hoffman
Age 78, of Carrollton and formerly Minerva, died Monday, April 25, 2022 at the Truman House in New Philadelphia. Sam was born June 2, 1943 in Salem to Lorin and Dorothy (Irwin) Hoffman. Sam lived an amazing life and was always there to help others. Sam was a humble and quiet man but was able to pass on his great work ethic and humor to those around him. He retired from Frontier Communications where he was a Senior Lineman. Sam also served on the Minerva Fire Department and earned the position of Captain after years of loyal service. Sam well known for his saying "if you ain't breaking something you're not working hard enough." He is a US Army Vietnam Veteran. He graduated from Columbiana High School.
He is survived by his wife, Dolly (McGinnis) Hoffman whom he married June 19, 1964, daughter, Danielle (Michael) Frank of Carrollton, a brother Ed Hoffman of Columbiana and 2 grandchildren, Madison and Morgan. While being a grandpa, he passed on his lifelong love and respect of horses to both girls. He proudly attended many arenas to see both girls ride and smile with their horses. He is preceded in death by a sister, Donna Monnot and 2 brothers, Bob and Homer Hoffman.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00 pm in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home with Pastor Lisa Elliott officiating. Sam will be buried proudly with full military honors as he served his country proudly in East Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be 2 hours prior to services on Saturday from noon to 2:00 pm at the funeral home. The Sandy Creek Fire District will perform Last Call Services. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice.
