Roy J. Wilson, age 79, of East Rochester, died Friday, June 13, 2014 in his home. He was born Jan. 17, 1935 in Belington, WV to Coontz and Evelyn Wilson. He graduated from Bergholz High School and had worked for American Switch in Minerva, Good Roads in Minerva, Wilkof Morris Steel Corp. in Canton and retired from Hendrickson Turner in Canton. He is a member of the Bayard United Methodist Church. Roy enjoyed working with his hands, fabricating items to solve a problem, tinkering on cars, welding and restoring chainsaws, playing his banjo and listening to blue grass music. Daily he would meet and chat with his friends at the local Holland's Restaurant and Hardees.
He is survived by four sons, Roy (Annette) Wilson of Chesapeake, VA, Raymond "Doc" Wilson of East Rochester, Kenneth "Kenny" Wilson of Canton and Keith (Rochelle) Wilson of Elizabethtown, KY; two granddaughters, Heather and Holly; two great grandchildren, Tyler and Lindin; and his former wife, Helen Wilson of East Rochester.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:00 pm in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Scott Williams officiating. Burial will be in Moultrie Chapel Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday 5-8 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorial contributions be made to the Bayard United Methodist Church which he enjoyed attending.
