Obituary

Roy Everett Dye, Ph.D.

Age 88, of Alliance, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017. He was born Oct. 27, 1928, in Adrian, MO to Robert Lee and Mary Francis (Titus) Dye. Roy is a member of the First Christian Church, Minerva.  Roy graduated in 1946 from Lawrence High School, KS and started his engineering at The University of Kansas, received a Bachelor's in Science from Kent State University in 1972, Master's in Education from Kent in 1974 with a major in Administration, minor in Media. Roy received his Doctorate of Philosophy from Kent State in 1981 with a major in Curriculum and Instruction, minor in Administration. Ohio certifications issued were Superintendent, High School Principal, Mathematics, and Industrial Arts. He is a US Air Force Veteran, S/Sgt. Roy worked in various capacities for Westinghouse AGT in the Jet Engine Department, Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, General Dynamics, Convair Div. in San Diego, CA, and taught in various locations including Trade and Industrial Supervisor at Columbiana County JVS, Lisbon, vocational high school subjects and industrial arts at Alliance High School, Newark and teacher educator for Kent State University. Following retirement, he taught 7th grade math in Conroe, TX.  In addition to his instructional activities, he did consultant work and even found time to have several articles published.

Dr. Dye is a member of the American Mensa, San Diego Chapter, American Society for Quality Control, Deming Users Group, American Society for Training and Development, and Al-Bahar Shrine, San Diego, Masonic Lodge, and numerous other memberships.

He is survived by Esther Whiteleather, nephew Robert (Susan) Dye of KS, niece Beverly (Cliff) Hill of KS, great nephews, Jared Dye of KS, Devin Mills of NY, great niece Katherine (Drew) Hellige of KS, great great niece Tova Hellige and sister-in-law Lorraine Dye of KS. He is preceded in death by a brother, Robert J. Dye.  Special thank you to Kim Mitchell, Amy McGuire-Miller "M", Dr. Lear and staff at Alliance Hospice, Jacqueline Suppan and staff at the VA Clinic in Canton, Dr. Mark Hostettler and staff.

Following cremation, a graveside service will be held at Moultrie Chapel Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be in Roy Dye's name to Alliance Hospice, 2461 W State Street, Alliance OH 44601.
