Roger Scott Paxton
Age 80, of Louisville passed away on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023 at Aultman Alliance Hospital after a brief illness. He was born April 15, 1943 in Minerva, to Lyle and Jennie (Bowman) Paxton. A 1961 graduate of Minerva High School he had a long career working at Sears for 34 years. Next he went to work for the R.C. Miller Company until retirement. With a love of flying, he became a licensed pilot for only the joy of it. As an active member of the community, he belonged to Fairhope Faith Church in Louisville, Hoover Lodge #770 F&AM in North Canton and of the Boy Scouts. He was a former Scoutmaster of Troop 44 and currently registered with Troop 15 in Louisville. Roger had a passion for playing the drums and he continued his music career after high school band with the group "Accents". Many may remember the joy of square dancing to Roger's drumbeat at local venues. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly (Boord) Paxton who died May 4, 2022. He is survived by a son, Robert (Tina) Paxton of Mogadore, sister, Donna (Rex) Edwards of Louisville, brother, Richard Paxton of Minerva, 2 grandchildren, Rebecca (Robert) Bender of Massillon, Mitchell (Taylor) Paxton of Massillon and a great grandson, Sawyer Paxton.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Wayne Scott officiating. Burial will be in Moultrie Chapel Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday 6-8 pm at the funeral home where Masonic Services will be held at 5:45 pm.
