Roderick "Bird" Martin

Age 75, of Minerva, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021.  He was born Oct. 3, 1945 in Middletown to Jess and Ada (Pitts) Martin. He retired from Norfolk and Southern Railroad where he was a railroad machinist.  He is a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the VFW Post #3747 in Canton, American Legion Post #121 in Chester, WV and the Lisbon Eagles Aerie #2216.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Melissa Martin and fiancé, Tracy Garabrandt of Canton, Stephani (Doug) Grindstaff of Minerva, son, Rick (Tina) Martin Jr. of East Rochester, son-in-law, Bryan Marriner of Minerva, 2 sisters, Helen Koah of N. Canton, Brenda (Bob) Drake of Tampa, FL, 2 brothers, James "Phil" (Jeannie) Martin of Minerva, Charles (Linda) Martin of Akron, 13 grandchildren, Austin, Jacob, Peyton, Sara, Jaidyn, Carson, Spencer, Sawyer, Emerson, Carsyn, Bryce, Brock and Angela and his dog "Bolt". He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Rehard) Martin and a daughter, Renae Marriner

Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Sunday, Aug. 8 ^th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva.  The family requests casual attire and encourages you to wear your favorite Harley shirt in Bird's memory!
