Age 91, of Louisville, died surrounded by family Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022. He was born Jan. 17, 1931 in Hickory, PA to Arthur and Margaret (Kress) Steffen. Bob was a Technical Illustrator for the E. W. Bliss Co. in Salem for 30 years and retired from Goodyear Aerospace. He graduated from Wellsville High School in 1949 and attended Geneva College. He attended St. Louis Catholic Church in Louisville and is a member of the Pleasant View Golf Course. He is a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War having served on the USS Franklin Roosevelt and was one of the select few chosen to play on a basketball team that travelled to allied countries promoting good will.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary (McConnehey) Steffen who died in 1993, 4 sisters, Anna Hyser, Evelyn Campbell, Freda Moore, Viola Rogers, 4 brothers, John, Arthur, Earl and Clair Steffen. He is survived by 3 daughters, Shaun (Randy) Linsted of Columbus, Suzanne (Vic) Sutek of Minerva, Kerry (David) Swigert of Louisville, 8 grandchildren, Abby (Mike) Aljancic, Kaitlan (Landon) Cassill, Justin (Andrea) Linsted, Clay Swigert, Broc (Rachael) Sutek, Bobby (Renee) Swigert, Cole Sutek, Shelby Swigert and 8 great grandchildren.
Following cremation, a graveside service will be held Saturday, Aug. 27 th at 10:00 am in St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Wellsville with full military honors. Those wishing to send condolences may sign the online register at www.gotschallfuneralhome.com.
