Robert Lynn Phillips
Age 75, of Minerva, died October 28, 2015 in Mercy Medical Center in Canton. The last surviving member of his family, he was born Aug. 13, 1940 in St. George, WV to Alva Phillips and Colleen (Sturms) (Phillips) Cassidy. He retired from GM Lordstown after 32 ½ years of service, was a member of Tubal Lodge #551 F&AM in Minerva and 32° Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton. He was also a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ella Jane (Newcomer) Phillips, whom he married Oct. 16, 1959; 3 daughters, Jody Phillips of Minerva, Tammie Phillips of North Canton, Kelli (Mike Hoover) Grogg of Minerva; a son, John (Shannon) Phillips of Minerva; a sister, Gwen (Dean) Waugh; 7 grandchildren; and 1 great grandson.
He is preceded in death by 4 sisters, Elwanda 'Ellie" Minich, Vonda "Bunny" Fazenbaker, Carolyn Sue Mullins, Barbee Delauder; 4 brothers, Jimmie Phillips, Murl Phillips, Edwin "Sonny" Phillips and Alston Phillips.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Chaplain Larry Karlen officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.
