Robert Gene "Geno" Miller
Robert Gene "Geno" Miller, age 65, of Malvern, died Sunday, April 17, 2011 in the Great Trail Care Center in Minerva following a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born Feb. 3, 1946 in Blairsville, GA the youngest son of Reuben and Hazel (Plott) Miller. The family migrated to Canton in 1951. Geno spent his younger years participating in sports and graduated from Canton South High School in 1964. He played left tackle on the football team and earned a football scholarship to Ohio Northern University. He also played baseball for the Canton South Wildcats and moved on to the Timken Company and Canton City Leagues. He is a US Marine Veteran and was a former President of the Lake Mohawk Property Owners Assoc. and a member of the Lake Mohawk Ski Club and Fish Clubs. He was also a member of the Little Country Church and was a real people person having enjoyed boating, golf and woodworking projects. Geno was employed by the Timken Company for 25 years as a supervisor where he earned Management Proposal Program Stock Awards for his creativity and input.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife, Sandra Lee (Abel) Miller, whom he married Oct. 8, 1966; a daughter and son-in-law, Mindy and Kevin Fankhauser of Malvern; a sister, Barbara Downes of Columbus; 2 brothers, Max (Marge) Miller of Magnolia and Bill and (Norma) Miller of Dellroy and a grandson, Bryce.
He is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jack & L.C. Miller
Following cremation, a private family service will be held at the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Pastor Bill Carter officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.
