Robert E. Jackson

Age 89, of Minerva, died Friday, April 6, 2018 in Altercare of Alliance. He was born April 30, 1928 in Summersville, WV to Robert and Nora Mae (Barnett) Jackson. He worked in Telephone Communications for GTE and Jackson Enterprises. He was a member of the East Rochester United Methodist Church, American Legion Shinnston WV Post #31. He served in the US Army during the Korean War.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Virigina (Hoffmaster) Jackson who died in 2013,  3 sisters, Eula M. Poole, Eva Mae Collins, Dovie Arlene Jackson; 6 brothers, Lester, Estel, Kenneth, J. Oscar Otis, Richard and Edwin Jackson. He is survived by  4 sons, Robert R. (Brenda) Jackson of Canton, Stephen (Amy) Jackson of Uniontown, David (Diane) Jackson of Canton, Edward (Marilyn) Jackson of Alliance; 2 sisters, Lucilla Andre of Cartersville, GA, Lavaughn Edwards of Enterprise, WV; and 7 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 3 step-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Scott Williams officating. Burial with full military services will be at the Moultrie Chapel Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or a local hospice.
