Richard K. Murphy

Age 91, of Minerva, died Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at his home. He was born March 1, 1927 in Minerva to Walter and Helen (Kerr) Murphy. He retired as the Director of Engineering at Mercy Medical Center in Canton and had formerly worked in the Minerva Powerhouse. He served in the US Navy during WWII, was a member of the Minerva VFW post #4120, Wellsville Elks and Minerva American Legion #357. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Edith Mae (Severn) Murphy who died March 21, 2017; daughter-in-law, Marla Murphy; sister, Elizabeth VanMeter, infant sisters, Mary and Margaret Muphy; bothers, Lee Muphy, and infant brother, Donald Murphy. He is survived by 2 sons, Michael Murphy of Minerva, Richard (Judy) Murphy of Marion; 2 brothers, Walter Murphy and John Murphy of Oklahoma City; 7 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.

Following cremation, a graveside service will be held at a later date in East Lawn Cemetery with full military honors.
