Richard G. Gergel, age 70, of Minerva, died Friday, January 17, 2014 in Alliance Community Hospital. He was born Oct. 19, 1943 in Alliance, Ohio to Richard and Velma (Conrad) Gergel. He retired from Colfor in Salem where he worked in maintenance, worked for Valley Forge in Salem for 25 years and had worked for Burns Cold Forge. He attended the East Rochester United Methodist Church and was a member of the UAW Local #4199.

He is survived by his wife, Marianne (Wickersham) Gergel whom he married June 23, 1969; a daughter, Kathryn Zurbrugg of Kensington; a son, William (Malissa) Gergel of Minerva; a sister, Susan Gergel of N. Canton; 3 grandchildren, Libby Zurbrugg of Kensington, Hope Gergel of Minerva and Airman First Class, Kyle Gergel of Great Falls, MO.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 7-9 p.m. in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva. A private family service with burial will be in Moultrie Chapel Cemetery.
