Richard D. Geiselman
age 93, passed away Saturday ,December 11, 2021 at Alliance Hospital.
He was born July 24, 1928 in Columbiana County to Howard and Eliza May (Evans) Geiselman. He and his twin brother were the last of 7 children. The Geiselman family made their home in New Franklin. On September 30, 1950, Richard married Donna Jean Jays. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army in December. During his two years of service, his duty stations included Kentucky, Virginia and an overseas deployment to Munich, Germany. After returning home, he worked on the farm and as a welder with Morgan's Engineering for 18 years. In the 1980s, he retired from Winters Foundry in Alliance.
Richard was a lifelong farmer and a family man. He enjoyed working on the farm and could always be found in one of three places; the barn, garage or garden. After a long day, he loved coming home and enjoying time with his children and grandchildren. Many weekends and summers came to a close with a large family dinner on the back porch or picnic table, with Richard at the center of all of it. During his downtime he could be found outside on the glider, visiting on his mower, or in front of the TV watching Gunsmoke and Wrestling.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Ella (Richard) Fernandez and Lisa Addison; 2 sons, Richard D. Geiselman,Jr and William Geiselman; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, many beloved nieces, nephews, family members and friends. After 17 years as a widower, Richard married Shirley Seibert in 2001. The two then lived the retired life on the farm. His five step children include, David, Randy, Wes, Shane and Shelly.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 34 years, Donna Jean (Jays) Geiselman; his sisters Doris (Kenneth) Beth, Theda (Paul) Schneider and Esther Geiselman, who passed away when she was 13 years old. His brothers, John (Maxine) Geiselman, Wayne (Virginia) Geiselman, and twin brother Robert (Verna) Geiselman; his daughter, Deborah Ann Masters and his grandson, Bryan Geiselman.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday February 2nd, 2022 at Moultrie Chapel Cemetery with Reverend Susan Bowman officiating.
