Richard D. Burns, age 71, of East Rochester, died Friday, April 4, 2014 at his home. He was born Oct. 25, 1942 in Mapleton to Robert and Dorothy (Foltz) Burns. He worked for Burns Cold Forge for 35 years. He is a member of the Bayard United Methodist Church and was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and the Medal of Valor. He was dedicated to his church and family and was an avid reader of the Word.
He is survived by his wife, Ginger (Brownfield) Burns whom he married July 11, 1969; 2 daughters: Theresa (Scott) Walter of Canton, MI, Tara Burns of Grimesland, NC; 3 sisters: Sara (Gary) Kolasa of Minerva, Marjorie Jaramillo of CA and Dolly Powell of TX; 2 brothers: Denny (Karen) Burns of Minerva and Mark Burns of Minerva; 3 granddaughters: Elizabeth, Megan and Rachel Walter. He is preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Burns.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 12 th at 3:00 pm in the Bayard United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Williams officiating. Burial will be in Quaker Ridge Cemetery.
