Raymond Salter Jr.
Age 68, of Minerva, died Friday, April 8, 2016 in Rose Lane Nursing Center. He was born Dec. 9, 1947 in Alliance to the late Raymond and Dorla Ann (Mummertt) Salter Sr. He was the owner of Ray's Pool Service. He is a graduate of Minerva High School and received a Bachelor's Degree from Mount Union College. He is a US Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War and is a member of the Minerva American Legion Post #357, proud member of Mensa International, the Stone Cold Motorcycle Club and enjoyed fishing and gardening.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Kimm (Mike) Hughes of Canton, Amy Thomas of Canton, 2 sons, Raymond (Tawni) Salter III of Billings, Montana, John Salter of Cleveland, 4 sisters, Jet Ann (Glenn) Proctor of Hawaii, Su Lin (Tim) Boulder of Minerva, Penny Salter of Akron and Joy Davis of Akron, 6 grandchildren, Nick, Jacob, Brayden and Alex Salter, Clay and Cole Thomas. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, stepmother, Ruth Salter and 3 brothers, Paul, John and Joe Salter.
Funeral services with full military honors will be Tuesday at 11:00 in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Elaine Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Moultrie Chapel Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday 5-8 pm at the funeral home.
