Ralph "Jake" Martin
Age 86 of Malvern died Thursday, May 19, 2011 in the Carroll Golden Age Retreat. He was born July 16, 1924 in Malvern to William and Florence (Wyville) Martin. He was a truck driver for Harple Oil, Campbell's Sohio, and Magnolia Mining Co. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and member of the Malvern American Legion Post #375, 69th Infantry Division Association, and the VFW Post #4120 in Minerva.
He is survived by his wife, Helen (Baughman) Martin whom he married July 8, 1947, three daughters; Florence (James) Breckinridge of Malvern, Faye (Paul) VanMeter of Minerva, and Katherine (Gary) Price of Minerva, two sons; Ralph (Debbie) Martin of Canton, William "Willis" (Carol) Martin of Minerva, sister Lenora Gotschall of Minerva, brother Russell (Betty) Martin of Florida, 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a son, Kris Martin and a brother, Clarence Martin.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11:30 am in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Malvern with Rev. Kerry King officiating. Burial will be with full military honors. Memorial contributions can be made to Carroll Golden Age Retreat or the Crossroads Hospice.
