Perry "Pete" Kireta, age 90, of Louisville, died Wednesday, October 2, 2013 in the Auburn Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center in Damascus, OH. He was born July 25, 1923 in Millport, OH to Joseph and Eva (Garvich) Kireta. He retired in 1984 as a millwright for Morgan Engineering, was a US Army veteran of WWII, member of American Legion Post #574 in North Georgetown, Louisville Eagles Aerie #2374 in Louisville and a lifetime member of the VFW Post #673 in Sebring.
He is survived by a daughter, Deanna (David) Akerblad of Alliance; a son, Perry (Carol) Kireta of Alliance; 3 grandchildren, Shawn (Nita) Akerblad, Jason (Maria "Marty") Akerblad, Kristin (Gregory) Mayle; and 7 great grandchildren, Nadi Greenleaf, Marshall and Randall Akerblad, Ethan, Adrianna and Memphis Akerblad, and Bryce Lee.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Martha (Shaw) Kireta who died in 2007, 6 brothers; Nick, Sam, George, Edward, John and Mitch Kireta, and 3 sisters, Mildred Hodge, Beulah Taylor and Mary Smith.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Chaplain Larry Karlen officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Moultrie Chapel Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday 7-9 pm in the funeral home.
