Oscar L. Marteney

Age 78, of Minerva, died Tuesday, January 29, 2019 in Mercy Medical Center. He was born October 2, 1940 in Minerva to French and Leona (LeBeau) Marteney. He graduated from Augusta High School in 1960.  He retired from Metaldyne in 2005 and had worked as a foreman at Minerva Wax Paper. He is a member of the Minerva United Methodist Church, former member of Minerva Lions Club and Minerva Eagles Aerie #2199. He was an Ohio State Buckeyes and a Cleveland Indians fan.

He is survived by his wife, Carol (Lanning) Marteney, whom he married September 9, 1962; 2 sons, Greg (Sheila) Marteney of Mechanicstown and Mike Marteney of FL; 6 sisters and brothers, Eva (Paul) Wolf of Minerva, Mary (Jaye) Runes of Denver CO, Evelyn (Fred) Hopkins of Minerva, Elmer "Jack" (Debbie Duffey) Marteney of Minerva, Darlene Billiter of Minerva, Pamela Marteney of Minerva, 3 granddaughters, Britany (Kris) George, Carlee Marteney, Cailey Marteney, 2 grandsons, Chase (Gabby) Ruble, Cody Marteney, 6 great grandchildren, Hannah, Mykenzie and Brooklyn George, Ava, Owen and Carson Ruble.  He is preceded in death by 3 sisters, Frances Marteney, Donna Clark and June Bettis.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Pastor Dale Roberts. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
