Olive Elizabeth Roudebush Brogan Patton, age 97, of Minerva died Tuesday, April 9, 2013 in Minerva Eldercare. She was born Jan. 4, 1916 in Pattersonville to the late Roy and Verna (Stackhouse) Roudebush.
She graduated from Minerva High School in 1934 and was a lifetime member of the Minerva First Christian Church where she had served on the home department for 20 years, member of the U&I Sunday School Class, Carroll Chapter #315 Order of the Eastern Star, local and national AARP and the Lunch Bunch.
She was a housewife and had worked on the family farm for many years. She was also an employee of the Minerva Dairy Queen for 22 years. One of her favorite memories was a family trip to California with eight family members in one car. In the year 2000 at the age of 84, she delighted her family by writing an extensive memoir.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister and is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Larry) Karlen of Minerva, Barbara Dunlevy of Minerva and Linda (Jim) Crouse of Sarasota, FL; 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild; brother-in-law, Don Ray; niece, Karen Ray Larson and nephew, Doug Ray all of St. Petersburg, FL. Olive's grandchildren and extended family include Darla (Steve) Summer, Diane (Jeff) Evans, Dawn Marie (Tom) Green, Kelli Jo and Leo Gonot, Aaron Crouse and Emmaly Adams, Abbey Crouse, Jill Karlen and Brent Karlen. Her great grandchildren include, Andrew and Grant Summer, Landon and Mallory Evans, Austin and Brogan Zwick, Brennan Green, Logan Gonot, Benjamin Streb and Judith Karlen; a great-great granddaughter, Teagan Zwick, her special friend, Sheldon Stockum and her dear friend, Martha Jean Cogan.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Maurice Brogan who died Oct. 22, 1946; second husband, Perry Patton who died July 30, 1997; sisters, Virginia Ray and Alice White; grandsons, Mark Dunlevy and Dan Karlen.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Chaplain Larry Karlen officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Informal calling hours will be Saturday one hour prior to services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Minerva First Christian Church.
