Nancy L. Zaugg

age 78, of Alvin, TX and formerly Hanoverton, OH passed away Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025 at Evening Star Personal Care Home in Alvin, TX.  She was born Nov. 2, 1946 in Canton to the late Robert and Wanda (Frazier) Zaugg.  She graduated from Minerva High School in 1965 and received her Bachelor's Degree from Morehead State University in 1969.  While at Morehead she worked with Appalachia Volunteers and did her student teaching in Sandy Hook, KY.  Her early career included substitute teaching at Minerva High School and social work at the Minerva Convalescent Center as well as Carroll, Columbiana and Tuscarawas Department of Children's Services.  She spent 23 years and retired from the District 11 Area Agency on Aging.  Nancy also spent a brief time as a pastor at Baxter's Ridge United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Katie (Scott) Welch of Alvin, TX, son, Steve (Christine) Kohl of East Rochester, stepson, Rick Ornowski of Mineral City, sister, Caryl (Glen) Thompson of Dickinson, TX, 3 grandchildren, Celeste (Chris) Mourton, Wyatt Kohl, Haley Kohl and 2 great grandsons, Luke and Graham.  She is preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Vick, brother, Brent Zaugg and her beloved dog, Penny.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 3rd at 12 noon in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva.  Calling hours will be 2 hours prior to services from 10-12 at the funeral home.
