Mitchell P. Ramsey, age 25, of Canton, died Wed., June 25, 2014 in Summersville, WV. He was born July 7, 1988 in Canton to Gary and Janese (Gotschall) Ramsey of Louisville. He was the General Manager of Grapes in a Glass in Canton. He graduated from Louisville High School in 2007 and received a Bachelor's in Horticulture from Kent State University in 2011 and had worked in landscaping. He had studied winemaking and had served apprenticeships in Todi, Italy and Debonné Vinyards in Madison, OH. He was an Eagle Scout and Assistant Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 15 in Louisville, member of ystark!, member of the Louisville-Nimishillen Historical Society and a member of the FOE Aerie #2374 in Louisville and the Louisville High School Alumni Assoc. Mitchell was an avid outdoorsman and excelled at everything athletic; whether he was pouring you a glass of wine or kayaking, his smile was contagious to everyone!
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Maranda Saling whom he married Oct. 19, 2013; brothers, Matthew Ramsey of Malvern and Adam Ramsey of Louisville; paternal grandparents, Paul and Catherine Ramsey of Louisville; maternal grandmother, Margaret Gotschall of Minerva; mother-in-law, Cindy Petitti of Louisville and many friends and extended family.
Funeral services will be Sat. at 11:00 am in the Stier-Israel Funeral Home in Louisville with Pastor Angel Jackson officiating. Calling hours will be Friday 5-8 pm at the Steir-Israel Funeral Home. A private family burial will be held in Foxfield Preserve in The Wilderness Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mitchell Ramsey Fund, c/o Consumers National Bank.
