Michael D. Zellers

Michael D. Zellers of Minerva, went home to rejoice with our Lord on May 28, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born Oct. 10 ^th , 1954 in Canton to Frank and Glenna (Biller) Zellers by whom he is survived. A dedicated husband, Michael is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Connie (Linhart), 3 children, Joshua (Azure) Zellers of Canton, Jeremiah (Crystal) Zellers of Canton and Rebekah (Christopher) Bauman of FL, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Clark and Norma Linhart. Bringing so much joy to his life were his 6 grandchildren, Mia, Sydney, Jacob, Gabriel, Wyatt and Elijah.

Michael retired from the Minerva Local Schools after teaching math for 17 years.  He earned his Bachelor's in Education from Kent State in 1992 and his Master's Degree for the Akron University in August of 2006 and continued tutoring and mentoring youth throughout his retirement. A member of the Freeburg Church of the Brethren since the age of 7, Michael felt a call to the ministry in his late teens. He began filling the pulpit and has faithfully served as Pastor until his passing. Michael loved his congregation, loved sharing God's word and sharing life with his beloved church family.

Michael is also survived by his siblings, Karen (Glenn) Robertson, Mark (Teri) Zellers, Eric (Billy Kay) Zellers, nephew Adam (Becky) Robertson, niece, Beth (Brent) Brugger, nephew, Frankie Zellers, nephew, Alex Zellers along with a number of great nieces and great nephews and cousins, and his beloved King Charles Cavalier, Duke.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Aultman Compassionate Care Center and the MICU at Aultman Hospital for their wonderful care during his last days.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 4 ^th at 11:00 am in the Freeburg Church of the Brethren with Brother Dave Hobbs and Brother Edwin Wartluft officiating.  Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.  Calling hours will be Friday 6-8 pm in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva and one hour prior to services at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made Aultman Compassionate Care, Boy Scout Troop 250 in Canton South or the Inspiration Hills Camp.
