Michael R. Iden, age 53, of Columbus, and formerly Minerva, died Friday, May 11, 2012. He was born June 11, 1958 in Alliance to Mary Elizabeth (Baldwin) Iden of Minerva and the late Lowell G. Iden Sr. He was a former janitor for the Minerva Local School District and currently a biomedical field service engineer for Excalibur Labs. He grew up attending the East Rochester United Methodist Church and had attended the Grace Brethren Church in Minerva. He graduated from Minerva High School, is a US Army Veteran and was a former member of the Minerva Police Auxiliary.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife Patricia (Phillips) Iden; 3 children, Stephanie Woods of Columbus, Kim Woods of Columbus, and Brian Woods of Charlotte, NC; 2 sisters, Stephanie (Ted) Beach of Dade City, FL, Mary Jo (Michael) Kidd of Salem; a brother, Sam (Sue) Iden of East Rochester and 4 grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Lowell Iden, Jr.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Lee Iden officiating. Burial will be in Moultrie Chapel Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
