Matthew Eugene Zeedrich, 76, decided to sleep in heavenly peace early Saturday afternoon, December 10, 2016, at the Woodlawn Compassionate Care Center while surrounded by his family.
Matt was born in Chicago, Illinois, on April 3, 1940, to the late Mathew and Jeanne (Whitney) Zeidrich. He moved from Chicago to Minerva, Ohio, at the age of four and remained there until his sleep.
Matt loved watching football 24/7, the "Battle Hymn of the Republic", helping anyone in need and trips to the Paris Township "Dump" twice a month. His only regrets were the Browns were still winless this season and the Steelers won six Super Bowls, he missed receiving his Rifle Expert Badge in the USMC by a single shot and he no longer can torture "the boss" in person.
Matt graduated from Minerva High School in 1958 in the same class as his wife, Penny. He was promoted to Lance Corporal during his duty as a United States Marine Corps Reserve from 1958-1962. He was the owner/operator of E-Z Way Disposal Company for 53 years. Matt was a longtime member of the American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Alliance of Transylvanian Saxons and the National Rifle Association.
Matt was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Josef Zeidrich; sister-in-law, Beverly (Manderine) Zeidrich; and his sister, Elaine Zeidrich.
Matt is survived by his wife of 55 years, Penny (Evans) Zeedrich; three sons, Nathan (Kelly) Zeedrich, Tyler (Rhonda) Zeedrich, and Joshua (Tricia) Zeedrich; a daughter, Lesley (Mark) Reed; and eleven grandchildren.
A family visitation will be held on Saturday, December 17, from 2-4 PM at Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva, Ohio.
