Mary B. Friend

Age 84, of Malvern, died Tuesday, January 16, in Aultman Hospital. She was born July 15, 1933 in Waynesburg, PA to Paul and Edna (Polen) Kelsey. She was a housewife and a member of the Malvern Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a 50-year member and Past Matron of OES Carroll Chapter #315 and a founding member of the Malvern Christian Care Center.

She is survived by her husband, Dewight Friend who she married January 1, 1953; a daughter, Sandra K. Shock of Canton; sister, Pauline Wynne of Malvern; 2 brothers, Donald Kelsey of NC, Rev. Roy (Josephine) Kelsey of Rootstown; a granddaughter, Heather Shock of Louisville; great grandchildren, Jayden, Jordan and Jensen Grosenbaugh. She is preceded in death by a son, Paul W. Friend; and two brothers, Blain and Byron Kelsey; a sister in law, Marilyn Kelsey.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am in the Malvern United Methodist Church with Rev. Frank Zugaro and Rev. Allen Hill officiating. Eastern Star services will be held just prior to services at 11:00 am. Memorial donations can be made to the Malvern Christian Care Center.
