IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Martha Jean
Zwick
October 4, 1940 – May 27, 2022
Martha Zwick
On Friday, May 27, 2022, Martha Zwick departed her earthly bounds, destined to the grace of heaven, while surrounded by loved ones. Martha was born on October 4, 1940, to Joseph and Vera (Hoopes) McDaniel. She was a graduate of Minerva High School, Class of 1958.
On June 6, 1959, Martha married, and is survived by, Raymond Zwick. Residing on the farm, they shared in East Rochester, Martha helped Raymond with the farm and raised five children. Often found in her ever-expanding flower gardens, predominately populated in purple flowers, she would enjoy tending to her flowers, watching birds, and working on a tan with the smell of baby oil following her as she diligently worked.
Often masked by her quiet demeanor, those who knew her best, adored her quick wit and sense of humor which would often take one by surprise. She had a straightforward manner. If Martha was thinking it; she would just say it. This made her a great card player and partner, which she loved. Never one to shy from helping, she was kindhearted and made friends easily. She volunteered as a member of St. Gabriel Church and as a member of the Catholic Women's Club helping with funeral dinners, the St. Gabriel Boutique, and Fish Frys. She was also a member and volunteer at the Minerva Eagles.
Her many friends will remember their shopping excursions, garage sales, trips to the ever-popular Kmart, or their bowling league on Mondays. She enjoyed traveling. One glance through her many photos is a storybook of travels through Germany and parts of Europe as well as numerous bus trips with her friends. Her grandchildren will always remember soap operas, Wheel of Fortune, Cheez Whiz, and Doritos, and leaving her house with pockets overflowing with candy. Regardless of what she was doing, she always had time to catch up with friends and family. She was beloved by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband Ray, Martha is survived by three daughters, Christine (Julie Cook) Zwick, of Jacksonville, FL, Toni (Harold) Davis Jr. of Malvern, Michele (Jason) Fescemyer of Carrollton, her son Mark of Four Oaks, NC, and a daughter-in-law Betty Zwick, two sisters, Joan Newcomer of Minerva, Ann Smith of Salem, and her brother, Carl (Judy) McDaniel of East Rochester. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a son, Michael Zwick, and two brothers, Irving and Joseph Jr. McDaniel.
