Martha S. Prowe

Martha Stewart Prowe, 89, after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer's passed away Tuesday October 10, 2023, in St. Luke's Lutheran Community in Minerva and is now resting in the arms of her Savior and reunited with her beloved husband Gary. She was born March 21, 1934, in Atlantic City, NJ to Dr. Walter and Leonora (Seneker) Stewart. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Minerva. She graduated from Mary Washington College and Drexel University and received a master's degree in education from Tufts University in Boston. She was a member of the D.A.R. and volunteered for the Community Hospice and Minerva Community Meals. She was best known for her contagious joy, infectious smile, and overall zest for life.

She is preceded in death by Gary Prowe MD in 2020, a brother, Blair Stewart, and a sister Giffin Russell. She is survived by 2 daughters, Christa (Shawn) Archer of East Rochester, Karen Lamadanie of Hartville, 2 sons, Walter (Raynene) Prowe of Minerva, Eric Prowe of Carrollton, 1 sister, Linda Cole of Brigantine, NJ, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and two very special and faithful aids Deborah Gossett and Kim Kilcullen who guided her through the end of her life.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Minerva with Rev. Bob Linsz and Mr. Jason Jackson officiating.  Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery in Canton.  Calling hours will be held Friday 6-8 pm in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday from 10-11 am.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or St. Luke Lutheran Community.  Those wishing to send condolences may sign the online register at www.gotschallfuneralhome.com.
