Jeanette Toalston, age 91, of Minerva, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014 in Aultman Hospital. She was born July 27, 1923 in Moultrie, Ohio to George and Alice (Cassidy) Niuman. She retired from Niuman's Meats where she had worked for 25 years. She had also worked for Minerva Electric Switch for 9 years. She is a member of the Minerva First Christian Church, the U&I Sunday School Class, was a former Deaconess, Sunday School Secretary, member of the Home Dept., the Busy Belles, helped with vacation bible school and was the first editor of the church paper in 1947. She was a member of the Lunch Bunch, ladies of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and helped with the Minerva Community Meals.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Mervin "Tootie" Toalston who died in 2007; two brothers and their wives, Edwin and Norma Niuman, Delbert and Elsie Niuman.
She is survived by a daughter, Debra (Howard) Thompson of Perrysburg; son, Danny Toalston of Minerva; 6 grandchildren, Ted (Stephanie) Toalston of Columbus, Abby Girdlestone of N. Canton, Andy Toalston of Columbus, Brent Thompson of Huntsville, Alabama, Shawn (Nicole) Thompson of Lexington Park, MD and Kyle (Shannon) Thompson of Columbus; and 4 great grandchildren; Henry, William, Alex and James Girdlestone.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Chaplain Larry Karlen officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn. Calling hours will be Sunday 6-8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop 150 in Minerva.
