Martha Jean Cogan
Age 95, of Minerva, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015 in the Alliance Community Hospital. She was born in Canton to Charles and Blanche Waefler. She and her husband owned the Maple Drive Dairy Farm near East Rochester. She was a 9 year employee of the former Fair Store and managed, then owned Hill's Shoe Store in Minerva for 25 years. She is a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist and a life member of the Bayard Grange and a member of the SWRM club.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Cogan who died in 1993 and a brother and sister-in-law, Dwight and Libby Waefler and recently her beloved cat Squeeky. She is survived by a daughter, Christine (Chris) Powell of Zoar, son, Vaughn (Susan) Cogan of Carrollton, 2 grandchildren, Melinda (Aaron) Abrahamson and Dawn (Mick) Malcom and 5 great grandchildren, Morgan and Andrew Abrahamson, Avery, Madilyn and Kaylor Malcom.
Per her wishes, a graveside service will be held Saturday at 2:00 pm in the Chapel at East Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of Christ, Scientist at 2501 Market Ave. N., Canton, OH 44714.
