Marjorie Joan (Crawford) Ellyson, age 86, of East Rochester, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born on October 2, 1938 in Minerva, Ohio to Priscilla and Dean Crawford. She worked at TRW, in Minerva, for a number of years before becoming a full-time home maker. As a member of the Damascus Friends Church, she sang in the choir, played the piano, and was a long time Sunday School teacher. She taught piano for decades and was an integral part of the United High School Band Boosters, running its Columbiana County refreshment tent for years. Marjorie was an accomplished cook and baker. She baked for many special events and decorated countless wedding cakes. With all she accomplished, her greatest gift was her undying love for her husband, children, family and friends. Her service to them and her community is a gift that will last for generations.
Marjorie was married on June 2, 1956, to Charles M Ellyson. They were married for 67 years until he passed away in 2023. She is survived by 2 daughters, Joan (Joe) Thomas of East Rochester, Sharon Trimmer of Louisville, 3 sons, Charles (Diana) Ellyson of Fayetteville, Georgia, Michael (Lisa) Ellyson of Kensington, Eric (Kristen) Ellyson of Kensington, and 2 brothers, Wes (Faye) Crawford, Tom (Pat) Crawford both of Port St. Lucie, Florida. Also, she is survived by 3 sisters-in-law, Nancy (Tim) Flip of Beloit, Lucille Ellyson of East Rochester, Nancy Hillyer, 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and a great, great granddaughter. Marjorie is preceded in death by her sister, Mary Alice Hillyer, her granddaughter, Joscelin, and 2 brothers-in-law, Harley Hillyer, Dick Ellyson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am in the Damascus Friends Church with Charles Ellyson officiating. Burial will be in the Damascus Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday 5-9 pm at the Damascus Friends Church and a half hour prior to services on Wednesday from 10:30-11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be made to Malone College, The Samaritan's Purse or the Aultman-Alliance Hospice.
