Marjorie A. Banks
Age 84, of Minerva died Thursday, March 14, 2013 in the Great Trail Care Center. She was born Aug. 9, 1928 in Louisville to Leslie and Iva Bell (Brookover) Sears and was raised in Moultrie. She had worked at Nexpak where she was known as Grandma and that Crazy Newspaper delivery lady in East Rochester. She is a member of the East Rochester United Methodist Church. She played drums with her husband in the band, "AL Banks and the Westernaires" for many years having played on the Porter Wagner show and even shared a dressing room with Dolly Parton. Later she had a radio show on WJER in New Philadelphia.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert "AL" Banks who died in 2004; a son, Alan Banks; 2 sisters, Betty Palmer and Laverna (Miller) Bloom; 2 brothers, Robert and Fred Sears. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra (Thomas) Harstine of Strasburg; sister-in-law, Dorothy Sears of Alliance; a grandson; a great grandson and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Scott Williams officiating. Burial will be in Moultrie Chapel Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday 6-8 pm in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
