Marie L. Radabaugh October 3rd 1928 – June 15th 2026
Our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to Marie Radabaugh, who passed away peacefully on June 15th, 2026 after 97 remarkable years. To her family, Marie was not just a mother, grandmother, or great-grandmother. She was the steady, loving center of so many lives.
Marie lived with a quiet strength and a deep appreciation for the world around her. She loved adventure; whether she was traveling, snapping photos, or climbing onto the back of a motorcycle just to feel the thrill of the ride. Whether she was taking a walk through town, or settling in with a good book, there was a good chance she had a loving dog companion by her side. Marie lived a full life, including an incredible career history. She was always successful in each position she
held, whether it was becoming one of the first women managers at Grant’s Department Store, or working as a traveling portrait photographer. She is mostly remembered by all of her friends at Leesville Lake as “Short Change” because of her time working at United Bank through the 80’s, before she retired.
Marie’s greatest passion; her truest joy, was always her family. Nothing meant more to her than watching her family grow, change, and find their way in the world. She was the kind of woman who remembered every birthday, listened without judgment, celebrated every accomplishment, and loved with a depth that left no doubt.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Bette (Randy) Crowl, whose dedication, love, and care were constant sources of comfort to her. She is also survived by her stepdaughters Loretta Radabaugh, Janie (Jay) Radabaugh, Wilda (Joe) Gregel, and her stepson Wade (Carmen) Radabaugh, each of whom held a meaningful place in her life.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, whom she adored: Cyndi (Ron) Hale, Tony Gorrell, Rebecca (Samantha) Pope, Joe Gorrell, Melissa (Bryan) Getchey, Sara Golens and Justin (Shannon) Radabaugh
She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and laughter: Mitchell Gorrell, Alexandria Gorrell, Madeleine Hale, Benjamin Hale, Makayla (Carter) Mann, Katelyn Getchey, Samantha Getchey, Colin Gorrell, Madelyn Radabaugh, Sterling Radabaugh, Preston Radabaugh, Christopher Goins, and Chase Goins.
Marie lived long enough to meet and love her great-great-granddaughters, Callie and Eloise Mann, whose presence lit up her later years.
She is preceded in death by her son William Lee, her first husband, Ralph Rockwell; her second husband, James Radabaugh; her sons-in-law Randy Crowl, and Jay Dickinson and her stepson Willis Radabaugh. We take comfort in knowing she has been reunited with them once again.
Marie’s life was filled with stories she told and ones she created simply by being herself. She was brave, funny, stubborn in the best ways, and endlessly loving. Losing her leaves a quiet space that words can’t fill, but the memories she gave us will remain.
Marie’s love continues in all of us—and that is her lasting gift.
