Obituary

Lucy Adkins-Burchett
Born April 11, 1926 Died Sept 1, 2011
Lucy Adkins-Burchett passed away peacefully surrounded by family, friends and caregivers at the foot of the Rocky Mountains in Morrison Colorado on September 1st 2011 on a beautiful summer day.
Born to John and Maria Campomizzi on April 11, 1926 in Flushing Ohio then on to Aiella Italy where she was raised and graduated high school. Lucy returned to Malvern Ohio where she met her first husband Charles Adkins and was married in 1954. She was married to Charlie until his death in 1966. They had one child (Joe) born in 1955.
Lucy worked at Malvern Pottery, Frankie and Jimmy's Bar & Grill and eventually went to work as a cook for Wackerly's Restaurant in Malvern Ohio in the late 60's until 1983 when Lucy met her second husband Hassell Burchett and moved to Minerva Ohio where she lived until 2005.
Lucy then moved to Lakewood, Colorado in 2005 where she lived out the rest of her life near her son Joe and his wife Debra Adkins until her death. Lucy enjoyed many activities such as Bowling (she had an all spare game and carried a 165 average) and continued bowling until just a few years ago. Lucy loved gardening and cooking and most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She walked daily with friends and was a member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church where she helped with many of the church activities throughout the years. Both her and her second husband Hassell Burchett were very proud of their yard as well and spent countless hours working to make it look its best.
Lucy loved birds and flowers and her yard and home reflected that as well. Her favorite color was pink.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Charles Adkins as well as her second husband Hassell Burchett, sister Emma Marinucci, brothers Vincent, Luigi and Mario Campomizzi and her mother and father Maria and John Campomizzi. She is survived by her son Joe Adkins and his wife Debra, sisters Connie (Massimo) Curitti of Rochester New York, Gina Gili of Rome Italy as well as many nieces and nephews locally and abroad.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 11:00 am in St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Minerva with Fr. Victor Cinson as celebrant. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday 5-8 pm in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home.
