Lillis Marie Oyer
Age 94, of Kensington, died Sat., May 7, 2016. She was born June 9, 1921 in Negley to Lewis and Harriett (Walbourn) Guy. She was a Rosie the Riveter and worked as a welder for Trust Con in Youngstown during the war. She was a homemaker and is a member of the Hanoverton Presbyterian Church, a 50 plus year member of the Bayard Grange #1878, State and National Grange. She graduated from New Waterford High School in 1942 and was an avid sewer and baker and loved to cook and can.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Oyer who died in 1996, and all 12 of her brothers and sisters, Sarah Herrington, Maggie Thomas, Mae Earley, Mary Hughes, Florence Philips, Clara Yarwood, Andrew, John, Samuel, Charles, Clarence Guy, her twin brother Willis Guy, and a granddaughter, Michelle Little. She is survived by 2 daughters, Freda (Wilbur) Yearley Jr. of Caldwell, Susan (Ronald) Little of Kensington, brother, Sherman (Patricia) Oyer of Kensington, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 12 noon in the Hanoverton Presbyterian Church with Rev. Thomas Allmon officiating. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wed. 6-8 pm at the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva and one hour prior to services at the church.
