Letha K. Cogan
Age 97, of Minerva, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2017 in the Arbors of Minerva. She was born Aug. 24, 1920 in Bayard to Arthur and Laura (Roby) Hoopes. She was a housewife and a former employee of Baxter's Tube in Minerva. She is a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and a former Grange member, Minerva Mothers of Twins Club and helped cook for the Minerva Community Meals.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Cogan who died in 1997, a daughter, Dorothy Hawk, brother, Clyde Hoopes and a grandson Terry Cogan. She is survived by 9 daughters, Leilla (Dan) Moore of Louisville, Norma (Alfred) Zwahlen of Minerva, Mary (Jerry) Garrett of Minerva, Beverly (Tom) Polen of Hanoverton, Carolyn (Richard) Evans of East Rochester, Marilyn (Kenny) Simmons of Malvern, June (Doyle) Hawk of East Rochester Linda (Daryl) Haynam of Newark, Betty (Don) VanFossen of Sugarcreek; 5 sons, Dale (Eileen) Cogan of Minerva, Wilbur Cogan of Minerva, Paul (Linda) Cogan of Carrollton, Gary (Cassie) Cogan of Carrollton, Larry (Rhonda) Cogan of Carrollton; 35 grandchildren; and 56 great grandchildren; and 4 great great-grandchildren; several step grand, step great grand, and step great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Minerva United Methodist Church with Rev. John Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in Heritage Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
