Larry Whitacre, age 56, passed away September 23, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born July 25, 1958 in Alliance, Ohio to Frank and Shirley Whitacre. He was a member of the stage hand guild union #76, a 1977 graduate of John Jay High School in San Antonio and had formerly worked at Colfor in Malvern.

He is preceded in death by his father, Frank "Mac" Whitacre. He is survived by his mother, Shirley Whitacre of San Antonio; a daughter, Megan Whitacre of Hobart, IN; a sister, Michelle (Tom) Whitacre-Wanat of Dallas, TX; 2 brothers, David (Audrey) Whitacre of Shelbyville, KY, Gordon Whitacre; 3 grandchildren, Tommy, Tyler, and Tucker; 2 nieces, Kelcie Wanat, Amy (Owen) Mitchell; 4 nephews, Christopher Wanat, Bryan (Meagan) Whitacre, Brandon Whitacre, Grant Whitacre; and a great-nephew, Dominic Whitacre.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Chaplain Larry Karlen officiating. Burial will be in Augusta Cemetery.
