Kim R. Fowler, age 64, of Minerva, died Tuesday, October 1, 2013 in the Carroll Healthcare Center in Carrollton. He was born Nov. 26, 1948 in Westlake, Ohio to the late Russell Fowler and June (Miller) Fowler of Washington State. After graduation from Jefferson High School, he enlisted in the US Army and served 2 years in Viet Nam where he was a communications specialist and earned various medals including the Specialist Sharp Shooter medal. After his discharge from active service he used the GI Bill to get his degree in electronics and opened Fowler Television and Electronics with his brother. He then went to work for ODOT where he was the head of District 4. Kim was also a published author, a computer expert and a member of the AM Vets.
The loves of his life were his wife, Wilma (Massena) Fowler whom he married Jan. 8th, 1971; a daughter, Stephanie (Michael) Operandi of Louisville; a son, Eric (Amanda) Fowler of Marietta; a brother, Rev. Fredrick (Cheryl) Fowler of Washington State; and 4 grandchildren, Mary, Andrea and Louis Operandi of Louisville, and Fiona Fowler of Marietta.
Burial will be in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH with full military honors.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Mercy Hospice and nurse Cindy for all their loving care during his long battle with cancer, the Carroll Heathcare Center for their caring for him during his last days on earth, and to Pastor Henman and Sister Suzanne, we are very thankful to each and everyone.
