Esther Kathleen "Kay" Hanna
Kay, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 14 th at the age of 98 and is now "together again" with her husband, Vic. She passed peacefully while prayer was being offered by a hospice pastor at St. Luke Lutheran Community in Minerva where she resided.
Kay was born Esther Kathleen Swank on May 8, 1923 to Leona and Sereno Swank and was the oldest of 5 children; William, John, Jean and Pat. Kay married John Victor Hanna on July 24, 1942. They were married 64 years before he passed on April 3, 2007. They are survived by their children: James (Paula) of Minerva, Larry (Jan) of Enterprise, AL, and Vicki (Jim) Semich of Mentor. She has one remaining sister-in-law, Allie Swank of Minerva, grandchildren: Missey Lichtler, Wendy (Cam Sr.) Weese, Jeff (Jessica) Hanna, Sherri First, Eric (Teresa) Semich, Hannah (Andy) Nowak, Jim (Dawn) Semich Jr., Alicia (Thomas) McCardle, great grandchildren: Alex Thomas, Drew Thomas, Cam (Cassandra) Weese Jr., Jake Hanna, Emelia Nowak, Benjamin Semich, Krista Semich and Gracie Robinson, great great grandchildren: Cam and Aubrey.
Kay loved music, spending her high school years playing trumpet in the high school band. She sang with "Carroll Tones" an all female singing group from Carrollton. Kay belonged to Minerva First Christian Church for over 70 years, serving as a deaconess, serving with the annual blood drive and sang in the choir for 47 years, often doing special numbers with her sisters and brother.
Kay had a special heart and loved people, always had a cute joke to tell. She volunteered on many occasions with the Salvation Army. Kay will be sadly missed by her family and friends. A special thank you to nieces Chris Mikes and Patty King for all of their loving care.
There will be a private family only graveside service on Saturday, June 19 th at 11:00 am. At her request there will be no calling hours.
