Joseph Kapp
Age 94 of Mechanicstown died Monday August 20, 2012 in the Pines in Canton. He was born April 7, 1918 in Naomi, PA to Andrew and Anna (Machuzak) Cap. He retired from the Timken Company in 1970 and he and his wife Gertude owned and operated Kapp's Restaurant in Canton for 25 years. He is a US Army Veteran of WWII having served in the 82nd Airborne. He is a former Board member of the North Eastern Ohio Restaurant Assoc. He loved living on his farm, his family and his collie dogs.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude "Trudy" (Leyda) Kapp who died in 2002, son-in-law, Samuel Salupo, son, Dixon Henry, 4 sisters; Marian Bellinski, Helen Lowry, Anna Smith and Antoinette Colegrove, and a brother, Michael. He is survived by a daughter, Deborah Kapp-Salupo of Cambridge, son, Frank Henry of Massillon, sister, Mildred Cap of Canton, 6 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews and friends and neighbors.
Following cremation, a private family memorial service will be held in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Virginia Birks officiating.
