John R. Williams III

Age 67, of Minerva, passed away Friday, March 7, 2025 surrounded by his children. He was born Sept. 11, 1957 in West Union to Charles and Wilma (Stephenson) Williams. John was loved by all who knew him. He would instantly light up a room with his infectious smile and fun loving personality! He spent many years working for the General Telephone Company, and ended his work career as a custodian for Minerva Local Schools. He was most proud of his time coaching Minerva Cross-Country and Track with his best friend, Frank Monk. John loved his family and friends, and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them. His absence will leave a void in us, but, we will carry on his legacy showing kindness and unconditional love to all!

John was the beloved husband of Cindy Williams (nee Mason); loving father of John Williams (Heather Tarlton) of Chillicothe, and Kelly Hilborn (Dave) of Concord; dear brother of Cheri (Mike) Berger of Bellevue, Lisa (Ted) Garrett of Athens; brother-in-law, Marsha (Jim) Stuckey of Minerva, Vickie (Jon) Leffler of Dublin and adored uncle to Michelle Ruffing (Jason Bush) of Bellevue, Justin (Suzie) Berger of Bellevue, Morgan Garrett of Philadelphia, PA, Darby Garrett of Cleveland, Todd (Michelle Etling) Stuckey of Talmadge and Andy (Megan) Leffler of Dublin. He was the proud Papaw of Davey, Ginny, and Calvin Hilborn who brought immense joy to his life.

Funeral services will be Friday March 14, at 7:00 pm in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Evan Crawford officiating.  Calling hours will be 2 hours prior to services from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Minerva Athletic Booster Club for the benefit of Minerva Cross Country and track.
