John V. Wadsworth

John V. Wadsworth, age 89, of Minerva passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011 quietly at home after a long battle with lung cancer. He was born February 14, 1922 in Malvern, OH to Louis and Sadie (Wilson) Wadsworth. He retired as a maintenance manager from Central Coated Products, worked as a plumber for Dick Wadsworth Plumbing and Heating, he was a member of AARP Chapter #21, life member and past president of the Carroll Co. Historical Society, member of the Minerva Board of Zoning Appeal and was a life member of the Minerva Kiawanas Club and the Bayard Grange. He was also a member of the Minerva United Methodist Church and a graduate of Malvern High School.

He is survived by his wife Mary (Carpino) Wadsworth whom he married July 2, 1994; a daughter, Chris (Larry) Simms of Minerva; a son, Mike (Levina) Wadsworth of Richmond, KY; a sister, Esther Pocobello of Madison, IN; 5 grandchildren, Denise (Mike) Ward of Salem, Danielle (Mike) Kerner of Erie, PA, Rachelle (Mike) Watt of Boliver, OH, Holly (Jonathan) Tussey of Richmond, KY, Jason McCreery of Richmond, KY; 8 great grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn who died in 1991; a son, Tom Wadsworth; 3 brothers; 2 sisters and a great grandson, Gavin Ward.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday at the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home with Pastor Harley Wheeler and Mr. Kenny Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Moultrie Chapel Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Alliance Hospice or any organization that he was a member of.
